Kyla Barnett (b 1976) is an artist living in Western Washington. She works primarily with oil paints and charcoal, but also incorporates various mixed media techniques into her artworks. Regardless of the medium she is using, she especially loves painting florals and landscapes, and living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest offers endless inspiration!
Kyla received classical training in drawing and painting from Tacoma Academy of Fine Art (2006-2009). She incorporates traditional approaches with new techniques and experimentation, seeking to create artwork that is not just a direct representation of something, but which also reveals the memory and mood they evoke. By going beyond the representational, her desire is that her paintings explore the deeper lessons and metaphors that nature has to offer, revealing the beauty and mystery of the Creator, and inspiring a sense of reverence and reflection.
